Taking a photographic image and manipulating it digitally in a number of novel ways to express something new and exciting. For example a simple photograph of a flower whilst in Spain transposed into an impressionist style painting. This was achieved by using a number of predefined actions in Photoshop CC. Each 'Action' changes the image in some way. For example one action creates the impressionist view, whilst another action adds in a textured feel to the image. You can find out more about predefined Photoshop Actions here. If you want to have a go at creating your own actions in Photoshop the watch this instructive Youtube Video.

Topaz Studio also has a filter that enables interesting mixes using the AI Remix Filter. Topaz developed this Artificial Intelligence filter by collecting hundreds of classic and contemporary artistic samples from famous artists, painters, graphic designers and more to identify specific artistic styles and be able to replicate the textures, colours, edges, and shapes of those styles. See myBio below after application of an AI Remix filter.

Another interesting set of filters is provided by Redfield. They supply sets of Plug-ins for Photoshop such as the Fractulus plug-in. The Fractulus plug-in generates unusual, eccentric artworks in a single step. The effects are based on extraction of so-called hidden fractal texture of an image. You can also simulate various types of exotic lighting and surrealistic pencil sketches.

The Fine Touch plug-in works like Photoshop’s Smart Blur filter – it provides smart blur/smoothing. But unlike Smart/Blur, Fine Touch provides colourising and streaking emphasis effects that can add impact to your images.
